Here in June 2020, the world’s gone a bit crazy. January started out quiet until a pandemic appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. Sheltering in place happened quickly, which caused many businesses to slow or shut down. Jobs were lost, and the economy went south. Over 100,000 U.S. residents and many others across the world died in just a few month’s time. Improvements and setbacks occurred with social distancing and reopening the economy. And then a black man died after a white policeman kneeled on his neck during an arrest. Protesters came out. Riots erupted, with looting and vandalism.
Time will tell what the future brings, but a glimmer of hope remains. This is important to remember. Hope is always there, whether we see it or not.
Change happens slowly, and sometimes it does not happen in a large enough capacity. But I believe in one constant – The goodness of people, of humanity. With that understanding in my heart, I know… Everything will be okay in the end. We will get there, to wherever we all need to go. And we’ll never stop trying.
